Retirement calculator for the Blended Retirement System (BRS) and Legacy High-3.
Military retirement pay (pension) is a defined benefit based on your length of service and your final pay grade. The formula differs slightly depending on which retirement system you are enrolled in.
For those who joined before 2018. Your pension is 2.5% times your years of service, multiplied by the average of your highest 36 months of basic pay.
For those who joined after 2018 (or opted in). Your pension is 2.0% times your years of service, plus matching TSP contributions and mid-career continuity pay.
If you are a member of the Reserves or National Guard, your retirement is based on Retirement Points. To use this calculator for a non-regular retirement, we convert your points into "Equivalent Years" by dividing your total points by 360.
Example: 3,600 points ÷ 360 = 10 Equivalent Years of Service.
